Tiger Trailers Apprenticeship Programme – September 2019

The business has just moved into our new purpose-built state of the art manufacturing facility which opened in January 2019 and we are scaling up production. There has never been a more exciting time to join the team!

In partnership with Warrington and Vale Royal College (Hartford Campus) we have developed two apprenticeship programmes:

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Engineering and Manufacturing – 2 year course
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering and Manufacturing – 4 year course

Joint Managing Directors, John and Steven Cartwright, take great pride in the apprenticeship programme and encourage fresh talent interested in engineering and manufacturing to genuinely consider making a Tiger Trailer apprenticeship the next step in their career.

What the apprenticeship involves

Each apprentice will learn the skills that make Tiger Trailers the best in the business. Working with a skilled mentor they will learn and experience all the major manufacturing stages in the production process. They spend four months in each department (including fabrication, chassis build, assembly, air and electrical systems, through to trailer completion). They are supported throughout the programme with regular reviews and assessments at each key stage.

Before each new apprentice starts working on our shop floor they attend one week’s basic training at the college to teach basic workshop skills and safe working practices. Following basic training they go to college on day release to receive work shop training, ensuring they achieve the required standards for the Apprenticeship they are completing.

What Do Tiger Look For in an Apprentice?

Tiger Trailers’ philosophy is to be dynamic and creative, producing innovative products with a vision to become one of the UK’s leading trailer and bodybuilding manufacturers. Tiger apprentices learn how to work in a vibrant and growing business through hands on practical work combined with college workshop training. Our apprentices need to have the following:

  • Predicted GCSE grades C or above in English, Maths and ICT
  • A keen interest in working in an engineering/manufacturing environment
  • A desire to work hard to develop their skills

  • “I started as an engineering apprentice, learning all the skills on the shop floor. Without that experience, I wouldn’t be where I am today. The things I learned set me on my way, giving me the confidence and industry knowledge to move into the back office where I’ve gone from strength to strength.”

    Darren Holland, Sales Director

  • “The apprentice programme is really challenging, but also really rewarding. Working so closely with my mentor day to day gives me loads of opportunities to learn and develop new skills. Everyone was really welcoming from day one; now I feel like I’ve been here for years!”

    Kane Martin, Tiger Apprentice
