CASE STUDY - HERMES

“WE WORKED WITH TIGER TO ENSURE THE SPECIFICATION OF THE TRAILERS MET ALL OUR OPERATIONAL DEMANDS.”

TERRY DUNNE,

FLEET MAINTANCE

MANAGER, HERMES

Hermes operates a network of over 10,000 couriers and over 4,500 ParcelShops. They work with a wide-range of leading high street, catalogue and online retailers in the UK, including Next Directory, ASOS, Tesco, John Lewis, Debenhams and Arcadia Group.

Hermes operates parcel trunk operations from its three distribution hubs at Warrington, Nuneaton and Tamworth with a fleet of 160 tractor units and over 1000 parcel trailers. It also operates a fleet of 450 local delivery vehicles, mostly 7.5t and 12t box vans. In April 2015 Tiger was awarded a significant contract to supply 200 new Tigertail parcel trailers. The trailers feature a number of Tiger firsts. Fully welded, hot dipped galvanised van chassis construction, tapered body design to reduce shunt damage, ‘Tigertail’ aerodynamic rear roof slope and front aero blimp. SAF axles and suspension and ground level coupling box are fitted also. Heavy duty internal kickstrips, Whiting C4 alloy shutter door and rear galvanised steel floor crash plate, complete the specification. Terry Dunne, Fleet Maintenance Manager at Hermes said, “We worked with Tiger to ensure the specification of the trailers met all our operational demands.

They have accommodated our changes to specification and build without a problem. We are very pleased with the finished trailers.”

Tiger have also worked in conjunction with TIP Trailer Rental to provide a maintenance and spot rental solution for Hermes. All of the new trailers supplied, will be serviced and maintained by TIP and its network of over 70 service vans and 10 branch and service locations throughout the UK. In addition, TIP have also provided spot rental ‘peak’ requirement trailers.
