Tiger Trailers get ready for their 5th intake of apprentices in September 2018
Working from our state of the art manufacturing facility in Winsford, Tiger understands the importance of developing and encouraging young talent into the industry. In partnership with Warrington & Vale Royal College (Hartford Campus) we have developed a two year programme leading to a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacturing. Our continuous investment into the apprenticeship will ensure we build our skilled workforce of the future enabling us to continue producing the high quality products you see today.
What the apprenticeship involves
Tiger apprentices learn and experience all the major manufacturing stages in the production process. Working with a skilled mentor they spend 4 months in each department (including fabrication, chassis build, assembly, air and electrical systems through to trailer completion). They are supported throughout the programme with regular reviews and assessments at each key stage.
Before new apprentices start working on our shop floor they get 1 week basic training at college to teach them the basic workshop skills and safe working practices. Following basic training they go to college on day release where they will receive workshop training to ensure they achieve the required standards for the Level 2 apprenticeship.
What Do Tiger Look For in an Apprentice?
Tiger Trailers' philosophy is to be dynamic and creative, producing innovative products with a vision to become one of the UK’s leading trailer and bodybuilding manufacturers. Tiger apprentices learn how to work in a growing business through hands on practical work combined with college workshop training. Our apprentices need to have the following:
- Predicted GCSE grades C or above in English, Maths and ICT
- A keen interest in working in an engineering/manufacturing environment
- A desire to work hard to develop their skills
